By the end of Understanding People and Communities, you will have the awareness and skills to develop a holistic and deep understanding of the people and communities involved in public participation processes.

 

Discover and apply deep understanding and insights into the people and communities involved in public participation processes, to make the processes more meaningful and effective. This Level 1 course provides an introduction to working with diversity, equity and inclusion in P2/engagement.

 

Course objectives

  • Identify and apply an approach for understanding people and communities for P2/engagement processes
  • Reflect on factors of cultural competence and cultural humility, and assess your practice and approach against the factors to identify areas of strength and growth
  • Apply a variety of analysis and mapping tools to understand diversity and map values
  • Identify ways to increase access and centre equity by reducing barriers to participation
  • Reflect on how to build rapport, trust and relationships with people and communities, and apply and assess approaches in a P2/engagement scenario
  • Assess and apply knowledge to planning and implementation of meaningful and effective P2/engagement across the Practice Framework

    Full refunds

    Requests for full refunds require written notice and must be submitted a minimum of five (5) days before the first day of the course. Those canceling will receive a full refund, minus an administrative fee of $50.00.

    No refunds

    There will be no refunds for cancellation requests received within the two week period prior to the course start date. Transfers to future sessions or courses will also not be permitted within this time period.

    Instead, a substitute may be named prior to the beginning of the course. Please email your substitution information to info@confluencetraining.com.

    Courses require a minimum number of participants to proceed so that the best learning experience is provided. Confluence Training reserves the right to cancel courses if the minimum number of participants isn’t reached 5 days prior to the course start date. Registered participants will have the option to receive a full refund or transfer their registration to another course.

    To guarantee your spot in a course, full payment is required 10 days before the course starts. If you require an exception, please email info@confluencetraining.com.

    There will be no refunds for missed (full or partial) courses and session recordings are not available. Multiple session courses usually build up knowledge from one session to the next. If a participant misses a full session they may not be able to attend subsequent sessions of the course.

    Participants are responsible for making sure that they are receiving course emails and are aware of the course time zone. Training participants are responsible for ensuring that they have access to Zoom  or Butter and are able to access course materials.
